CSU vs. Appalachian State

Unless you were hiding under a rock, you have already heard the outcome of this game. The Bucs took down the Mountaineers. This game was so intense, I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time and I had to continuously remind myself to BREATHE.

App St started off by scoring within the first minute and a half but we were able to score a touchdown of our own shortly after. The Mountaineers then took the lead again but with each touchdown that they made, we answered with a touchdown. At halftime the score was 17-17.

To start off the 3rd quarter, the Bucs kicked a field goal to make the score 20-17 but as soon as the Mountaineers got the ball back they scored to make it 24-20. The 4th q was scoreless until the last few minutes of the game. Malcolm Dixon (our qb) ran into the end zone for the touchdown but only to have it nullified due to a penalty. Malcolm had to go out because of an injury so in comes Crogan, the backup qb. At 3rd and 15, he throws a pass into the end zone and Kevin Glears makes an unbelievable catch for the touchdown. We go up 27-24 with a little over 5 minutes left in the ball game, long enough for them to score either with a touchdown or a field goal to send us into overtime. 

Fortunately for us, our defense made a big stop at 4th and 1 with nearly 3 minutes left in the game. Our offense then got a couple of first downs and that was the ball game. The Buccaneers of Charleston Southern, a small private school with enrollment less than 4,000 took down the Mountaineers of Appalachian State, a well known school in Boone, NC, with around 17,000 students, who defeated Michigan back in 2007, and who has won 3 consecutive national championships (2005, 2006, 2007).

For CSU, this was probably the biggest win in school history. They have also set a school record of 4 road win games. The offense dominated this game by having possession for 42 minutes-unbelievable! This team has really rallied around this coaching staff. The staff has shown this team how to play with a passion, to believe in their abilities, and to come together as a team to play for one another. They believe in something that is bigger than themselves.

Now for some other exciting news....

The Buccaneers are headed to Boulder, CO to take on the University of Colorado on Oct 19. I have been holding this secret for a long time so it feels good to finally be able to spill the beans. I have never been to CO so I am really looking forward to this trip.
